Know what you're facing – Ceiling and Wall Repair
Ceiling and wall surfaces get nicked, scuffed, fingerprinted or marred in spots. These types of problems can often be repaired by the conscious do-it-yourselfer. Try spot-cleaning the area with soap and water first. If that fails you should be able to sand it down, then re-prime and shoot a knockdown texture on it. Be sure to use drywall screen instead of sandpaper.
